The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa'i, had on thursday, said that she was yet to be informed on any plan to scrap the National Examination Council (NECO) and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) had issued a 21-day ultimatum that it would embark on a warning strike on March 25, if its demands were not met by the federal government.
The minister, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said she had not been officially communicated on the recommendations of the Stephen Oronsaye's whitepaper, as it affected the ministry.
